Startups in the Medellín Next program represent a cross-section of the city's growing technological and scientific sectors.

MEDELLÍN · March 24, 2026

Ruta N has officially selected 48 startups for its "Next 2026" cohort, signaling a decisive shift in Medellín’s economic strategy. Moving beyond its reputation as a service hub, the city is prioritizing a knowledge-driven model by scaling local technology to international markets. This program serves as the primary engine for the city's internationalization, transforming local technical solutions into global exports.

Bifurcated Growth Tracks

The program operates on a two-tier system designed to address specific maturity levels and revenue thresholds. The "Emerging" track includes 18 companies with revenues between COP $100M and $799M, focusing on strategic capacity building and growth foundations. The "Advanced" track consists of 30 startups earning over COP $800M, prioritized for commercial scaling and rapid internationalization. This structured approach ensures that resources: mentorship, specialized training, and investor networking: are tailored to the actual fiscal traction of the participants rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Scaling the Knowledge Economy

The 2026 cohort reflects a significant diversification of sectors, including ICT, energy, health, and aerospace solutions. Notably, the geographic distribution spans districts like Castilla, Belén, and Villa Hermosa, moving innovation activity out of the traditional El Poblado corridor. By fostering AI-backed investment readiness, Ruta N is positioning these 48 seeds as the catalyst for the city's transition into a tech powerhouse. The goal is to replace low-tier service exports with high-value intellectual property, effectively turning the "District of Science, Technology and Innovation" into a measurable economic reality for the region.
