Medellín is tightening the local capital loop by connecting institutions, deal data, and financing channels so scale-up money recirculates locally instead of arriving only in bursts from abroad.
Institutions
ACI Medellín coordinates foreign investment and international cooperation. Ruta N supports the innovation pipeline and, in 2025, helped establish 10 science, technology and innovation (STi) companies from the U.S., Ukraine, Argentina, and Chile.
Market visibility
“Medellín Venture Capital” and the Startia platform map 350+ tech ventures and 300+ investors, alongside 200+ regional funds and 100+ newly trained VC investors, lowering search and diligence costs.
Capital deployment
A Ruta N–Bancoldex effort seeded a $3.2 million fund that deploys about $10 million across 30 FinTech startups. In 2025 the city reported $168 million in FDI across 18 projects and projected 8,000+ jobs, with more attention on “brownfield” reinvestment in existing operations.
